Dear Parents of Sunday School age children,
Last April I sent a letter to all parents in the congregation urging them to bring their children to Sunday School. I am writing this open letter in the Fold reminding you of your Christian obligations to our children. I am repeating some of the things that I wrote to you last year.
When your child was baptized you promised to teach them the Ten Commandments, the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. Then as they grow older we are to place in their hands the Bible, bring them to the church services and provide for their instructions in the Christian Faith. In our Sunday School we strive to help parents to fulfill their duties to nurture their children in the Christian values which will support those children throughout their lives. It is of the utmost importance to the future of the world that our children take into their adulthood moral and Christian truths to aid in our relationships with other human beings. I urge you to bring your children to church and encourage them to attend Sunday School. We have dedicated teachers who will make the time they spend in church school an interesting and fun experience. These teachers spend time preparing for and leading the class in Bible stories, moral values associated with these stories and for fun, games and crafts. We are fortunate to have 5 dedicated women who take on these responsibilities. In October, the teacher had 5 different students in 3 classes during the month. There were 2, 2 and 1 attendees each week. Please support these women with the presence of your children. The child will be enriched through
the experience. By the way, with Christmas just around the corner the children will be preparing for their part in the Christmas program. Much will be done during the Sunday School time. If they wish to participate they must attend to be prepared.
